Histon Hawks Cricket Club is proud to be supporting The Raptor Foundation, a centre for the rescue and rehabilitation of injured and captive birds of prey, in Woodhurst, near Huntingdon. From the 2024 season, our girls will be proudly wearing kit emblazoned with the Raptor Foundation logo and running group initiatives to raise funds to support the work this exceptional charity does to support our namesakes and their fellow birds of prey.

The girls will be raising funds throughout 2024 in the following ways… and more:

  • Match Day Cakes/Tuck Shop – 1 child (the Team Captain for the Day)/parent per home/away match day supplies cakes/tuck shops for all participating teams. Participant can recoup the first £10 of production cost, or donate this to the Raptor Foundation
  • Refer-a-Friend – bring a friend to a winter/spring/summer training session and earn £5 for the Raptor Foundation
  • Sponsored Silence
  • Team Quiz Night
  • Sponsored Catch Marathon

There will also be match day incentives to provide support:

  • £0.50 per bowled wicket
  • £1 per 6
  • £2 per Run Out
  • £2 per Catch
  • £2 per Team Win
  • £10 per Hawk Catch (diving catch!)

The initiative is being sponsored by Cambridge-based marketing agency, TAG Media, website sponsor for the club, who will also be providing all players registered by 30th April 2024 with a match shirt, hoody and cap.

Histon Hawks players are invited to take part in learning more about the work being done at The Raptor Foundation. On joining the club, alongside the presentation of their cap, new players become a sponsor of a specific bird under the care of the Raptor Foundation, with their individual and collective efforts going towards the care and rehabilitation of their bird to ensure a true connection from one Hawk to another!

There are also perks offered to Histon Hawks players by the Raptor Foundation, a visit to which is an awesome day out for all the family.

  • Raptor Foundation allows each existing/new team player to “sponsor”one of the birds upon enrolment (not sure if you could do a sponsorship certificate, which we could present to them alongside their caps) – this wouldn’t need to be exclusive obviously, but if you have 20 or so different birds to split between the girls, that would be amazing and build a real connection.
  • Discounts/freebies for team players visiting Raptor Foundation

About The Raptor Foundation

The Raptor Foundation, has been a registered charity for over 30 years. Their aims have always been to aid both injured and captive birds of prey. Firstly, they rescue, rehabilitate and return injured, native birds of prey, back to the wild with extensive knowledge and experience with the aid of local veterinary professionals to give raptors the best chance at survival returning to their natural habitat. Secondly they look to protect and preserve birds of prey through education and conservation. The Raptor Foundation site is home to around 170 birds of prey, the majority of which have come from a rescue background. They provide a stable forever home for birds and educate through entertaining, informative & welfare conscious displays showing the amazing natural behaviours of these birds whilst raising awareness for captive & husbandry issues and worldwide conservation. All of the animals are kept to the highest welfare standards to promote & encourage the best standards for keeping birds of prey whilst showing how we and others can help them across the world.
